GENERAL INFORMATION

All participants will receive detailed conference and travel information upon registering for the conference. If you have not yet registered, please contact Harvetta Spann (hspann@blsgroupinc.com ) or your NDTAC State Liaison. General travel details are provided below.

LOCATION: DoubleTree by Hilton in Crystal City, Arlington, VA

CONFERENCE DATES: May 19–21, 2015 

Conference activities begin on Tuesday, May 19, and end at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. Tuesday morning sessions (invitation only) are intended for new coordinators hired in the last 2 years. Preconference workshops, including sessions with staff from the U.S. Department of Education, begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by the opening keynote address. Afternoon activities are open to all registered participants.

HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS

The DoubleTree Hotel is located at 300 Army Navy Drive in Arlington, VA. A block of rooms has been reserved at the reduced Federal per diem rate for registered participants. To guarantee the reduced rate, participants must make reservations by Thursday, April 30, 2015. To avoid no-show charges, reservations must be canceled by 3 p.m., 24 hours before arrival.

All conference guests should be able to access free Wi-Fi in their hotel rooms.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Air travel. Three airports serve the DC metro area. Please note that travel time from each airport varies depending on time of arrival. “Rush hour” in the DC area is typically 6–10:30 a.m. and 3:30–7:30 p.m. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service between Regan National Airport and the hotel every 15 minutes between 5 a.m. and midnight.

  • Reagan National Airport (DCA; Arlington, VA). Distance to hotel: <3 miles
  • Dulles International Airport (IAD; Sterling, VA). Distance to hotel: 27 miles
  • Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI; Baltimore, MD). Distance to hotel: 37 miles

Train travel (Amtrak).

  • Union Station (Washington, DC). Distance to hotel: 5 miles

Parking. The DoubleTree Hotel Crystal City is located at 300 Army Navy Drive in Arlington, VA. The hotel offers daily, overnight, self-, and valet parking. At present, the daily self-parking rate is a maximum of $27 per day/overnight for guests. Valet parking is available for a maximum of $32 per day/overnight for guests. These rates are subject to change. 

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Hotel shuttle. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to Reagan National Airport (DCA), the Pentagon City Metro (Blue and Yellow Lines), and the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. Shuttle service between Reagan National Airport and the hotel runs every 15 minutes between 5 a.m. and midnight.

Metro. Reagan National Airport (DCA) is located on the Blue and Yellow Lines and Union Station is located on the Red Line. The hotel is located three blocks from the Pentagon City Metro station, which is on both the Blue and Yellow Lines. Once outside the Metro entrance, go north a half-block toward Army Navy Drive and the Pentagon; make a right on Army Navy Drive and walk 2.5 blocks, crossing S. Fern Street and S. Eads Street. The hotel is on your right at 300 Army Navy Drive. 

Taxi. Taxi fares vary depending on time of day, number of passengers, and amount of luggage. Fare from Dulles International Airport is approximately $60–70 one-way, and fare from BWI is approximately $80–90 one-way.   

SuperShuttle. You can make a reservation on SuperShuttle by visiting http://www.supershuttle.com/ or by calling 1–800–BLUE–VAN (1–800–258–3826). We recommend contacting SuperShuttle for a quote from the airport you select. The shuttle often carries many passengers and there may be frequent stops before you arrive at your hotel.
